Denise J. Portmann
Denise J. Portmann
President and CEO of Bank of the Pacific
Denise J. Portmann Denise Portmann was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of the Pacific, the wholly owned subsidiary of Pacific Financial Corporation in January 2014. Denise is also a member of Pacific’s executive management team. Prior to January 2014, Denise was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Bank and has served as Treasurer for the Company. Denise joined the Bank in 2001 as Senior Vice President and Controller. Prior to joining the Bank, Denise served as Chief Financial Officer for Harbor Community Bank from 1999 to 2001. In addition to banking experience, Denise is a Certified Public Accountant and was an auditor in the public accounting sector for Knight, Vale and Gregory from 1995 to 1999, specializing in the financial institutions industry. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Grays Harbor College.

Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Thomas C. Baker Tom joined the Bank in April 2019 and was formerly with Community Bank in Pasadena California serving as Executive Vice President / Chief Operating Officer and Chief Information Officer overseeing Retail Operations, Central Operations, Information Technology, Vendor Management, Project Management Office and Facilities until Community Banks merger with Citizens Bank of Ontario. Tom also held increasingly responsible positions with Bank of America, Countrywide Financial and Homestore.com in Southern California. With a solid reputation for delivering forward-thinking technology initiatives that efficiently meet diverse, operational and industry needs, Tom has strategic and tactical planning capabilities that serve well in fast-paced environments experiencing rapid change through internal growth, acquisition, and turnaround. Tom is also a U.S. Navy veteran.

Daniel E. Kuenzi Dan joined the Bank in May 2017 and was formerly with Homestreet Bank in Yakima, Washington serving as Senior Vice President/Eastern Washington Regional President, overseeing relationship-based commercial banking. Dan also was EVP/ Chief Credit Officer with Whidbey Island Bank, and has held other progressively responsible positions with U.S. Bank, Washington Mutual and Wells Fargo throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Carla F. Tucker Carla joined the Bank in August 2019. Carla brings over 20 years of demonstrated leadership and accounting experience, spending 15 years with Skagit Bank as their Executive Vice-President/ Chief Financial Officer overseeing all finance, accounting, marketing, facilities and risk management functions of the organization. Carla has been recognized throughout her career as a collaborative leader with strong institutional knowledge in the accounting and finance arena. She is also a Certified Public Accountant. Carla earned her B.S. Degree in Accounting at Northeast Missouri State University, Kirksville, MO (Summa Cum Laude) and is an honors graduate of Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle, WA. She is very active in the community as a board member of Soroptimist International of Burlington and WE Ignite, as well as a former board member of United Way of Skagit County and former President of Skagit Habitat for Humanity, Women Build.

Executive Vice President, Chief Lending Officer
Walker Evans Walker has managed the bank’s Commercial Banking group since 2012. He joined Bank of the Pacific in 2004 when he served first as an area manager for all retail and commercial lines of business in the bank’s northern market. Prior to Bank of the Pacific, Walker’s thirty year career includes increasingly responsible managerial positions in commercial banking at Security Pacific, West One Bank, and Washington Mutual, as located throughout the greater Puget Sound market.

Susan C. Freese
Susan C. Freese has served as a Director of Pacific Financial Corporation since 2001. She is a member of the ALCO/Investment Committee, IT/CIS Committee and is Chairwoman of the CRA Committee.

Ms. Freese is a licensed registered pharmacist and owned Peninsula Pharmacies, Inc. a three store company located on the Long Beach, W A peninsula from 1987 until she sold the company in 2006. She is currently employed by the new owners as a pharmacist. During her ownership, she grew the annual sales of the company from less than $2 million to over $6 million dollars and grew employment from 16 to 28 employees. Ms. Freese and her husband also own commercial fishing vessels which they have managed very successfully in a highly regulated industry. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Washington State University and graduated from the Oregon Bankers Assn. Directors College.

Ms. Freese is a long time member of the non-profit Ocean Beach Education Foundation Board of Directors and is very active in the community. She is being nominated for her knowledge about growing companies in highly regulated industries and her knowledge of the economic conditions in our southern region markets.
Edwin W. Ketel
Edwin Ketel has been a Director of Pacific Financial Corporation since 2002, He serves as Chairman of the IT/CIS Committee and the Building Committee.

Mr. Ketel has owned the Oceanside Animal Clinic, a mixed animal practice for 30 years. He has grown his practice with annual income of $100, 000 in 1980 to over $1 million today, and employees from 1.5 in 1980 to 6 currently. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University and graduated from the Oregon Bankers Assn. Directors College in 2003 and 2007.

Mr. Ketel is very actively involved in the Long Beach peninsula communities. He was President of the Ilwaco Sports Boosters raising in excess of $50,000 every year to support youth activities. He helped develop a major bond measure while a School Board Member to bring the school district into the 21 st century. As a business owner he brings general management expertise to the board.
Dwayne M. Carter
Dwayne M. Carter has been President and General Manager of Brooks Manufacturing (a manufacturer of engineered wood products for the utility industry) since 2005. Prior to joining Brooks Manufacturing, Mr. Carter was employed for over thirty years in the banking industry in various capacities. His responsibilities included business development, credit quality, marketing, human resources, and administrative affairs. Mr. Carter holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Montana State University and graduated with honors.
Kristi Gundersen
Kristi Gundersen is a partner of Knutzen Farms, LP, a family-owned business founded in 1894 and headquartered in Washington's Skagit Valley. Ms. Gundersen serves as the Chief Financial Officer and heads up the Sales Division for Knutzen Farms. This diversified agribusiness produces a variety of potatoes, as well as wheat, and barley, and is operated by the fifth and sixth generations of the Knutzen family. In addition, she is a member of the United States Potato Board. Ms. Gundersen earned her B.S. in Economics at Washington State University.
Randy W. Rognlin

Randy Rognlin has been a Director of Pacific Financial Corporation since 2001. He is the Chairman of the ALCO/Investment Committee and serves on the Compensation, Governance and Nominating Committee and the Director Loan Committee.

Mr. Rognlin became a co-owner and President of Rognlin's Inc. in 1992, a heavy civil general construction company. He is responsible for managing day to day operations. During his tenure as President he has increased annual sales volume from $17 million to $50 million and has increased employment from 70 employees to 125. He joined Rognlin's Inc. in 1975 and has held various supervisory and management positions. In 1991 Mr. Rognlin became a shareholder of the Elma Country Club, Inc. which is a real estate holding company. During 1997 he became co-owner of Northwest Rock, Inc. a mining, sand, gravel and aggregate supply company which has annual sales of $7 million and has over 40 employees. Mr. Rognlin became a shareholder and member of Black River Blues, LLC which is a commercial farm operation, in 2005. The company generates annual sales volume of over $400,000 primarily in blueberries. Mr. Rognlin graduated from the Oregon Bankers Assn. Directors College.

Mr. Rognlin serves on the Board of Directors of Rognlin's, Inc., the Elma Country Club, Inc., and Northwest Rock, Inc. He brings extensive construction expertise, real estate investment experience and an entrepreneur spirit to the board. As a lifelong resident and businessman in Aberdeen, W A his involvement and significant contacts within our central region serves the board well.

Daniel J. Tupper Jr.
Dan Tupper has served as Vice President and General Manager of Crown Distributing Co. of Aberdeen, Inc. since 2000. Prior to this, Mr. Tupper held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in the beverage wholesaling industry. He has also served as Secretary and member of the Executive Steering Committee of the Washington Beer and Wine Distributors Association since 2005. Tupper graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in marketing and human resources.
Randy J. Rust
Randy Rust has been a Director of Pacific Financial Corporation since 2003. He serves as Chairman of the Board Loan Committee and Chairman of the Building Committee. He is a member of the Audit Committee and IT/CIS Committee.

Mr Rust is retired and a private investor. He is the former co-owner of Westport Shipyard, Inc. until 2000 when he sold his interest in the company and retired. He purchased the company in 1977 which had 12 employees at the time and built primarily 36 foot and 56 foot fishing boats. Upon his retirement the company had 250 employees and was building primarily 100 foot passenger vessels and 112 foot and 130 foot ocean going motor yachts. He was directly responsible for pricing and contracting all sales, designs, purchase of manufacturing facilities and lines of credit and banking relationships, along with legal, insurance and accounting activities. The company had manufacturing facilities in Westport, W A and Port Angeles, W A with sales operations in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Prior to 2000, he was co-owner and general manager of Tacoma Fiberglass Products, Inc., a wholesale distributor of materials to the composite industry. Mr. Rust holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Politic Science from Western Washington University and took courses in business law and finance. He graduated from the Oregon Bankers Assn. Directors College.

Mr. Rust brings entrepreneurial and management experience as well as extensive real estate development and investment expertise to the board. He is very active in the central region communities.
John G. Van Dijk
John Van Dijk served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Bank of the Pacific from November 2004 to his retirement in December 2012. Additionally he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Bank beginning in May 1996. Prior to that Mr. Van Dijk was employed in the thrift industry for 18 years, serving as Senior Vice President/Chief Financial officer of Olympia Federal Savings, Olympia, WA and as Vice President and Controller for Sterling Financial Group in Spokane, WA. He also served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Central Evergreen Savings Bank in Chehalis, WA. Mr. Van Dijk brings to the Board the invaluable benefit of his 34 years of banking experience and community contacts.
Douglas M. Schermer
Vice Chairman
Douglas M. Schermer was appointed as a Director of Pacific Financial Corporation in 2001. He is the Chairman of the Compensation, Governance and Nominating Committee and serves on the ALCO/Investment Committee and the IT/CIS Committee.

Mr. Schermer is the owner and· President of Wishkah Rock Products and Schermer Construction, Inc., a Heavy Civil Contractor specializing in roads and bridges for the timber industry. The company was founded in 1989 and has grown to annual sales of $7 million and 30 employees. Prior to founding Schermer Construction, Mr. Schermer was managing partner for three years for a heavy construction company with annual sales of $25 million and 80 employees. He also has various business interests including real estate investments and leasing. Mr. Schermer earned a Bachelor of Science in Forest Engineering from Oregon State University and graduated from the Oregon Bankers Assn. Directors College.

Mr. Schermer has served as a director of the Grays Harbor EDC and Grays Harbor College Foundation. He is being nominated for his extensive management experience in the forest industry and related businesses which assists the bank in that area of our lending programs.
Douglas N. Biddle
Douglas N. Biddle served as Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of the Company and the Bank from February 2014 until August 2019. Prior to that Mr. Biddle served as Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of PremierWest Bancorp and its subsidiary, PremierWest Bank from January 2011 until April 2013. From 2005 to 2010 Mr. Biddle served as President & Chief Executive Officer of Plumas Bancorp, a California community bank. During his twenty year career at Plumas Bancorp, Mr. Biddle served in increasingly senior positions including Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer. He earned a BA in Political Science from the University of California—Davis, and an MBA from University of California at Los Angeles. Mr. Biddle is a Certified Management Accountant and a former commissioned National Bank Examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
